Abstract

A key element of human resource management is the recruitment of staff, as this function generates the human capital that forms the foundation of an organization. Whether an organization will have competent human resources or not, depends predominantly on its ability to attract and retain qualified applicants’. The present study is an attempt to know the perception of the applicants’ toward recruitment process. The data for this study were collected from 118 fresh graduates of five different private and public universities of Bangladesh who exert their opinions on different issues of recruitment. Data were analyzed using SPSS for measuring descriptive statistics and STATA analysis table has been used for testing hypotheses. The result demonstrates a positive correlation between useful information obtained and applicants’ perception toward recruitment process (1.960< 14.64). On the other hand, recruitment sources (1.960> -0.35), advertisement placement (1.960> -0.84), comprehension (1.960> -1.45), interest in the job (1.960> -0.37), and intention to pursue the job (1.960>1.36) seem to be insignificant factors for the perception of applicants to the recruitment process. An important implication of the study is that it will help human resource practitioners, and organizations to know the view of the applicants about different aspects of recruitment.  The limitations as well as further research directions are also discussed.
